Edge LED places lights around the edge of the KDL-40LX903's screen using an optical sheet which results in a much thinner, much lighter display making the TV easier to move and position. This superb technology from Sony amazingly detects your face and movement so if you were to leave the room or stop watching your TV the picture would automatically turn off after a certain amount of time and would only turn back on if you were to re-enter the room or start watching again. The Sony KDL-40LX903's Presence Sensor is an intelligent body heat and movement detector that will activate an energy-saving off mode while leaving the TV sound on. If no movement is detected after 30 minutes the KDL-40LX903 would automatically switch to standby .

The complex noise reduction process of the BRAVIA ENGINE enhances low contrast images until they are clean, crisp and true-to-life and then process the blues, greens and whites within every frame to create rich colour accuracy.
